*This course is available for 3 Undergraduate or 2 Graduate credits. http://www.brockport.edu/ssp/summer/

The class will work collectively to conceptualize, research, develop and produce a magazine. The content and focus of the magazine, and the form it will take, will be decided during class editorial meetings. We will look to online magazines, journals and print magazines as a model from which to work. The students will also edit the content of the magazine and work together so that the material being produced by the class flows in a cohesive way with the larger idea of the magazine. Artists, photographers, and filmmakers are invited to work together and collaborate with others in the community and to present their work in an online and/or printed publication.

Meredith Davenport earned her MFA from Hunter College and her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. She was invited to do a fellowship at Yaddo and to participate in a master workshop with Shirin Neshat. She has received a Pew Fellowship and a Puffin Foundation grant. Her work has been exhibited in New York at the International Center of Photography, Chashama Times Square Gallery and the gallery at St. Francis College and internationally. She has a distinguished career in documentary photography. Her photographs have appeared in National Geographic, The New York Times and on the cover of Newsweek magazine as well as in the highly acclaimed HBO documentary "Child Soldiers."
