Twenty Photobooks I Love and Why
Gregory Halpern

Monday and Tuesday, June 25-26
9:30am-5:00pm; $250

The Photobook is the perfect genre. It allows you to take an artist's vision home with you, look at it in the comfort of your home, see how it changes with multiple viewings, and allow your conscious and unconscious to digest it. As a photographer, presenting your work in book-form affords an added degree of complexity and precision to your work. This class will be a two-day workshop. On the first day, we will look at twenty of the most perfect examples of this medium. On the second day, we will discuss the work of the students enrolled in the class, be it in book-form or print form.

Gregory Halpern grew up in Buffalo, New York and still makes most of his photographs there. He recently published A (J&L Books, 2011), his third book of photographs. He has a BA in History and Literature from Harvard University and an MFA from California College of the Arts. He lives in Rochester, New York, where he teaches Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
