Fundamentals of Photo Editing for the Web
Liz Ronk

Monday through Friday, June 11-15
9:30am-5:00pm; $550

*This course is available for 3 Undergraduate or 2 Graduate credits. http://www.brockport.edu/ssp/summer/

This week-long workshop offers a rare opportunity to dig deep into the Soibelman Picture Agency Archive at VSW and learn the basics of archival research and photo editing. Through research and daily group discussions, participants will identify a theme and each create a cohesive web gallery of 10 images for the web along with an introductory statement to the image collection. Basic instruction will be provided on Photoshop techniques in scanning, digital restoration and sizing of images for the web. Research techniques the instructor uses daily in working with the LIFE archive will also be discussed to offer a broader knowledge on how to apply this to practical use.

Liz Ronk is the Photo Editor for the award winning LIFE.com. She has been researching and editing the LIFE Magazine archive for over 3 years recreating classic essays and curating essays of never before seen gems. She holds an MFA from The Visual Studies Workshop and BFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. When not editing, she is working on several book projects and lives in New York City.
