Photographic Sequence The photographic sequence is in between the language and codes of literature and that of film and video. The basic elements of a sequence are memory, space and time. Work with your own photographs to edit together several different varieties of photographic sequence to create narrative and non-narrative visual structures. Students will gain an advanced understanding of image sequence modes and sequence interpretation. They will be able to further relate this understanding for the development of photographic bookworks. Students will photograph daily and edit their images into multiple sequences throughout the course. Tate Shaw is the Director of Visual Studies Workshop, Rochester, New York a nonprofit organization supporting photography, books, and film/video with an MFA program in Visual Studies in association with The College at Brockport, SUNY.
