Golden Process: Alternative Darkroom Technique
Ivan Dalla Tana
Saturday, February 6
10:00am – 4:00pm
$125

Ivan Dalla Tana will teach a one-day workshop on his alternative printing process that turn silver salts, when touching a fiber-based photographic paper, into gold. Dalla Tana’s Golden Process is a new printing technique reminiscent of past alternative processes that achieve several colors from a black and white negative. Students will need to bring black and white negatives to print from.

Ivan Dalla Tana, director of Darkroom Project, a professional B&W lab in Milan, Italy, is a master Black and White printer. Well known for darkroom experimentation, painterly strategies, and gestural manipulation of the b/w photo process Dalla Tana has collaborated with artists such as Klaus Oldenburg, Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Michael Heizer, Malcolm Morley, Jim Rosenquist, Joe Lewis, and others. Dalla Tana currently splits his time between printing for Stefano Pandini,  Andrea Micheli, Duane Michals, and Lena Herzog, and exhibiting his innovative photographs in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.
