Exhibitions A/Musings by Allison Safford
January 6-26, 2020 Project Space One
While in residence at VSW, Safford will be gathering space and astronomy images (moving and still) from the archives for integration with sculptural objects or vignettes. She is currently creating an installation for a gallery in Slovakia, based on the concept of comets, people, and ideas orbiting. The gallery’s address is on Mliečnanská meaning “Milky Way.” The potential to work in book form, examining the narrative of a wandering comet, also interests Safford as a research direction for her time in the Project Space.
Alison Safford is an artist from Boston, MA. Her residencies include EKWC (NL), At-Home Gallery (Slovakia), and Sculpture Space (Utica, NY). Recent shows include an installation at Mattatuck Museum (CT), and Ct Un/Bound at ArtSpace (CT), among others. In 2003 she was a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant.
Support for this exhibition came from Max and Marian Farash Foundation, Joy of Giving Something, and the New York State Council on the Arts Visual Arts program.
