Exhibitions The Velvet Noose
November 6-December 22, 2019 Project Space Two
Velvet Noose has been researching handmade video manipulation synthesizers that allow an audio signal to directly affect delicate patterns and waveforms of color on screen. In their performance work, The Velvet Noose, employs sonic drones to activate theta waves in the brain to a meditative effect. For their residency, they will be working toward on-screen effects accompanied by spoken word, chant, drone, immersive staging, and choreography that would amount to a true spectacle tailored to the VSW environment.
The Velvet Noose inspires introspection via droning sound bath frequencies, paramount poetics, and immersive stage theatrics, performed in full costume. They have performed at the Memorial Art Gallery and Rochester, NY’s Fringe Festival.
