Yamane has been photographing the lands created by the Japanese as they have filled in Tokyo Bay. Some of this land has been used for seaside parks as well as golf courses, zoological parks, aquariums, and for Fuji TV which he has photographed extensively. Yamane has gained access to these areas while they are under construction. His work delves into how a society fabricates a space from scratch and then presents it to the public. He also has a series of images from the veteranary hospitals at the zoos from before they have opened.
