The backdrop depicts an angel and has the text “Recuerdo.” This photograph was taken as part of a project undertaken by Parker and her husband Avon Neal about itinerant photographers of Guatemala throughout the 1970s. Images from these trips were published in 1984’s Los Ambulantes: The Itinerant Photographers of Guatemala.
