About this objectPhotographer Frederick J, who had a photography studio on 585 and 587 Broadway New York, New York, took this albumen photograph. This photo was taken circa 1890 and shows a woman posing with a manuscript. The manuscript is called La Sonnambula, composed by Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835). Bellini was an Italian Opera Composer and had composed ten operas including La Sonnambula. La Sonnambula was shown in Milan, Italy March 6, 1831 for the first time. Over time Bellini’s opera has been shown all over the world with its most recent showing in 2009. The woman standing with a copy of the opera is unknown and the photographer’s last name is unknown.
