About this objectTwo square images of a hand resting on a thigh of a person wearing jeans. The images are similar with the difference of the middle finger of one hand bent. Underneath these two images are illustrations of women wearing long coats and holding a muffler and a pocket book. In the bottom half of the photograph is text that plays with the various uses of the word hand and phrases including the word hand.

Subject and Association DescriptionBart Parker (1934-2013) initially studied literature and creative writing before switching to photography and attending the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied with Harry Callahan. Parker taught for the majority of his career at the University of Rhode Island. His work is best know for layering and sequencing of multiple images.
