Discussion with Free the People ROC
Filmed by media activist Bonnie Sherr Klein in Rochester in 1967/68, Through Conflict to Negotiation follows community organizer Saul Alinsky and Rochester’s Black-led community organization, FIGHT (Freedom, Independence, God, Honor, Today) as they confront Kodak on its legacy of racist hiring practices.
This screening will be followed by a discussion with members of Free the People ROC focused on the legacy of FIGHT, how media can be used as a tool for activism, and building a community organization in Rochester today.
