It is from a signed edition of 200 produced at the Visual Studies Workshop. Nettles used offset lithography on Warren’s Cameo Dull paper and green-black ink. There is also one page screenprinted onto Mylar and another made of light blue tissue paper. The cover is burgundy velvet and it is encased in a machine sewn, green vinyl slipcase with a water swirl print. The title page includes an appropriated sticker of a blue flower. In this book Nettles uses manipulated photographic imagery to accompany a story written by her thirteen-year-old sister Connie Nettles. It is one of many instances in which she collaborates with family members in her work. The narrative itself is a creation story. Nettles has cast herself in the role of the Nymph. In the story, the Nymph has two one-eyed monsters in her life. The monsters do not know about each other and when each discovers the other’s existence a battle to the death ensues. They go under the water and reemerge as one young man, which alludes to the creation of the world. MS
