This workshop will cover the fundamentals of the screen-printing process: image preparation, coating and burning photosensitive screens, and printing on different substrates. Consideration will be given to printing to make multiples and different methodologies for using printmaking to produce immersive installation environments. The course project will be to produce a full print installation at VSW by the week’s end.

Alysia Kaplan is an interdisciplinary artist based in Rochester, NY. She holds a BFA in Contemporary Illustrative Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a MFA in Printmedia from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is an Assistant Professor of Art at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
