Exhibitions Deconstruction and Destruction by Nur Balkir
August 21 – September 16, 2017 Project Space One
Picasso said, “Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.” I took the concept of destruction and explored ways of bringing it out as acts of creation. In my work, destruction has meant both deliberate modification and revealing what I thought of as destruction. I aim to create a reverse effect by playing with coded conventions and/or with widely accepted truths. I use variety of materials in my work. These include ink, pen, charcoal on paper, epoxied paper, photography, acrylic on photographic paper, and filming. I intend to further conceptualize construction out of destruction and deconstruction using variety of media.
