Exhibitions A History of the Idea of Progress by Nando Alvarez-Perez
November 6-December 2, 2017 Project Space One
Nando Alvarez-Perez presents a series of new photographs and drawings created using books, images, and objects from the archives of the VSW. Playing within the genres of collage, still life, and figure drawing the works mirror the complex history of the archive itself, generating non-linear connections across time and space and between high and low visual culture.
Nando Alvarez-Perez is an artist based in Oakland, CA. He received his MFA from SFAI in 2014 and has since exhibited throughout the Bay Area and internationally, most recently at Tmoro Project in Santa Clara, CA. He published his third photobook, Alpine Shadow Black Madonna, last year.
