Exhibitions Projecting Thoughts by Chris Holmquist

February 5-March 3, 2018 Project Space Two

  • During the VSW residency, Chris Holmquist will research, experiment with, and produce a public performance of three, three-dimensional imaging techniques: an experimental 16mm stereo-film projected in 3D; a shadow-theater performance of Hammond’s anaglyph “Shadowgraph”; and a novel static display designed to fool viewers, and then permit subsequent interaction with the deception.

Chris Holmquist moved to Rochester from Kansas in 2012 with the impulse to study gelatin-silver emulsion making in this photographically rich region. He is a firm believer in chemical photography’s ability to provoke inquiry and inspiration; a discipline that is technical & precise, but simultaneously deeply imaginative & unrestrained.
