Exhibitions Speed Run by Cody Filardi
April 3-27, 2019 Project Space Two
The Speed Run is a gaming concept wherein players run through games as fast as possible, utilizing glitches and failures as tools to access different levels and worlds. Cody Filardi is interested in this idea as both a social practice as well as a metaphor for how we use and make space for our identities based on how/where our body exists and who is looking. Through writing, installation, photography, video, and performance Filardi’s Project Space residency work will ask how we might extend and reposition selfhood, language and imagery past presumed checkpoints and end-goals.
Cody Filardi is an interdisciplinary artist based in Rochester, NY. With a focus on materiality and the politics of the personal, she/they create and entangle physical manifestations of identity and queer space. Cody received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BA from SUNY Buffalo State.
Open Studio: Thursday, April 25, 6-7 pm
Support for this exhibition came from Max and Marian Farash Foundation, Joy of Giving Something, and the New York State Council on the Arts Visual Arts program.
