Exhibitions The Disassembled Book by Louie Palu
June 11-26, 2019 Project Space Two
Since 2013 Louie Palu has been working on a series of publications that can be disassembled and re-edited by the reader to change the narrative. The four publications created to date are also designed to come apart and be hung as pop up exhibitions in any space in which the reader can serve as the curator. The goal is to challenge the idea of the traditional book and role of the visual gate keeper allowing the reader to change the sequence and view of the work. Palu will be spending his residency to produce a limited edition hand made book and a pop-up exhibition onsite at VSW. The imagery will be selected from his recent work from the Arctic which traces the polar route of explorers.
Louie Palu is a documentary photographer whose work examines social political issues. He has been awarded numerous awards including Guggenheim and Harry Ransom Fellowships. His work has been featured on the BBC, The New York Times and is held in numerous collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
Join us Wednesday, June 19 at 6 pm for an artist talk and open studio with Louie.
