Exhibitions The Velvet Noose
November 6-December 22, 2019 Project Space Two
Under the direction of artist-in-residence Harold Taddy, The Velvet Noose will present a panoptic theatrical experience, showcasing the culmination of a years-long collaboration with author and “Minographer” Steven Sherrill, in celebration of his semi-autobiographical book Minotaur. Themes of struggle and hidden strength will marry video projections and sound immersion with a tour of live theatrics, exploring the various spaces of VSW. Contact improv, mask work, and passages of ritual vignettes shot by cinematographer Adam Schaefer, offer an intense glimpse into the mythic world as imagined and shared by The Velvet Noose.
First Friday Velvet Noose Event Friday, December 6, 2019, 6-9 pm.
The Velvet Noose inspires introspection via droning sound bath frequencies, paramount poetics, and immersive stage theatrics, performed in full costume. They have performed at the Memorial Art Gallery and Rochester, NY’s Fringe Festival.
