Toward the Surface: An exhibition combining light-based works with abstract photography, fueled by a steadfast fascination with the laws of nature.

“I am motivated by the multitudes of possible perceptual shifts when interacting with elements of natural phenomena. This work came about by decoupling natural elements from their environment, then reinterpreting them with light and space.”

Rachel Jerome Ferraro is pursuing an MFA at Visual Studies Workshop. Her recent work is an investigation of light, employing photography, three dimensional objects, bookworks, and the moving image. She teaches photography at Rochester Institute of Technology.
