Spirit of the Archive / Game Jam Showcase

In conjunction with Open Studio with Project Space resident Lieh Sugai

Free and open to the public

You are invited to our annual solstice festivity! Spirit of the Archive is the cheerful annual celebration of our archival collections. Slumbering media objects are illuminated; mysterious shelves are opened to view! The archival space is transformed into a twinkling holiday wonderland on these darkest nights of the year.

Throughout the fall, VSW hosted afternoon-long game jams where artists learned about various, accessible tools for making video games and interactive art. These events encouraged participants, regardless of skill level, to finish and share a game within a few hours. On December 18, there will be a live showcase of games made during these game jams for visitors to play.

Explorations in the Ecotone, VSW’s fall exhibition, will also be celebrating its closing party. Lieh Sugai, the current Project Space resident, will be hosting open studios.

The Game Jam Showcase is co-sponsored by ArtsBloom, part of the City of Rochester’s Percent for the Arts Program.
