An RCTV Production
Presented by Teen Empowerment +
The Clarissa Street Reunion Committee

  • Clarissa Uprooted is a unique, eye-opening look at the hidden history of Rochester’s Clarissa St. and what it teaches us about why Rochester, NY is the city & region it is today.
We’ve been learning a lot about the impact of redlining, racial covenants and urban renewal nationally. Clarissa Uprooted gives us the local human and communal stories of resilience, resistance and harm beneath those racist policies through the eyes of youth and elders building together.
Join us for an open air screening of this locally produced film, featuring poetry and presentations by the Teen Empowerment producers, and a panel of youth and elders who appear in the documentary to respond to people’s questions. This screening will also feature early video from the VSW archives, documenting the demolition of the Clarissa Street neighborhood and the reaction of local residents.
