Friday December 8

6-7pm: Open Studios with Saint Piñero and Le’Andra LeSeur

7-9pm: Screening in the VSW microcinema

  • **Friday Night event**
Spirit of the Archive is our annual holiday celebration, featuring exhibitions and installations of VSW’s most unique media collections. This year, VSW Curatorial & Research Associate Mary Lewandowski has created an installation that reawakens 35mm slide projections from VSW’s own 50+ year history of legends, exhibitions and production. Come and walk among alumni of yore once again haunting our halls, the spirits of students and artists back at work (you?), and the many shifting faces of the places we have known as home.
At 7:30 will be a special screening of 16mm film curated from the community consciousness.  We share with you an eclectic selection of films from the VSW collection that loom in the memory and haunt in ways naughty and nice.
    Films include:
    Magic Beauty Kit (1973)
Where the Wild Things Are (1973),
    Willow Point (1972)
    Peanut Butter and Jelly (1976)
    ….projected in 16mm film!
Behind the holiday cheer dawns the deepest dark of the year…. See you in the archives!

    Suggested: $10

The VSW Salon is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts and by the ArtWorks program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
