VSW Salon Salon Fall 2022
December 8: A Night of Afrofuturism
6-7 pm – Open Studio with VSW Resident artist Raymond Thompson
7-9pm in the VSW microcinema
Suggested donation: $10
Join us for an illuminating evening of poetry, sound and images, featuring the work of artist and Afrofuturist Granville Carroll. Working with digital technology, poetry, and alternative processes, Carroll’s artwork explores photographic representation and vision to understand the process of existence and interpretation. Tonight’s event features a performance by Carroll, as he reads from his newly published artist book, Dark Matter (VSW Press 2022), and discusses the evolution of his photographic practice as an investigation into metaphysics and the ontology of self and the universe.
Carroll’s book, Dark Matter, will be available for purchase.
The VSW Salon is programmed by Tara Merenda Nelson, taranelson@vsw.org
The VSW Salon is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts and by the ArtWorks program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
